How long does the course take?
BAA offers two streams for this program, depending on your level of experience in the industry.
- Standard Stream: Part-time, two nights per week of facilitator-led classes for 45 weeks
*Total duration is typically between 47 to 52 weeks when taking into account holidays including Christmas shutdown. - Experienced Stream: Part-time, two nights per week of facilitator-led classes for 38 weeks.
*Total duration is typically between 42 and 46 weeks when taking into account holidays including Christmas Shutdown.
Student may require up to 8 hours per week outside of class times to complete additional learning and assessment activities, yet this will vary based on each learner.
Entry Requirements
We run two separate streams for this course, one for people with 3+ years of industry experience. We also run classes for those with less than 3 years experience.

BAA uses a learning management system (LMS) for online course delivery and assessment submission.

We offer the CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction online or in-person. Virtual classroom (online delivery), or physical classroom depends on your location and requirements.
Assessment Methods
The course is delivered with both theory and practical elements, with a mixture of classroom, group discussions, and individual research (including online study).
Assessment combines classroom participation, observation, practical and written presentation and self-paced exercises online in the students’ own time.
The practical demonstrations of skills on a building and construction site will be required for some units of competency, near the completion of the course.
BAA will reasonably assist those students without access to a building and construction site (where required).
