Builders Academy Australia – Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Process
Builders Academy Australia (BAA) follows an automated, stepped online approach to manage your RPL journey.
Step 1 – Self-Application and Assessment Checklist
You self-register online. During registration, you complete a checklist covering each unit of competency in the qualification. The checklist includes a summary of the performance criteria, elements, and examples of the evidence required.
Step 2 – Application Review
An RPL Specialist will contact you to review your application and the evidence you can provide. During this call, the RPL Specialist will determine which units can be completed via RPL and outline the applicable fees.
Step 3 – Enrolment
You proceed through the enrolment process. Upon successful enrolment, you will be provided access to the RPL Platform (Canvas).
Step 4 – Commencement
Once you receive platform access, you will have 90 days to submit all required evidence for your selected units.
Upon your first login, you’ll complete an avatar-led induction that explains how to navigate the platform, how to upload evidence, and key expectations.
Step 5 – Submission of Current CV/Resume
You submit a current CV or resume, which helps validate your employment history and relevant experience.
Step 6 – Submission of References
You submit a list of current professional references who can validate your work experience. The list must include each referee’s name, relationship to you, and contact details.
Step 7 – Uploading of RPL Evidence
You begin submitting evidence for each selected unit.
- Watch an avatar-led introductory video explaining the types of evidence required.
- Upload your evidence aligned to each unit of competency.
- Use the RPL Evidence Submission Checklist and example evidence to assist with submission.
- Answer written questions related to each unit.
Step 8 – RPL Assessor Review
An RPL Assessor will review your submitted evidence and provide feedback. You may be asked to provide additional evidence or clarification as required.
Ongoing Support
Throughout your RPL journey, you’ll be supported by a dedicated Student Success Coach who provides regular contact, guidance, and assistance.
Recognition of prior learning at BAA provides a fantastic opportunity for skilled, experienced individuals in the building and construction industry to obtain nationally recognised qualifications.
