What do I need for my COVID training in Victoria?

When you take this course, you may need to check the following items off your list. Your employer might provide them for you or you will have to get them yourself.

You will need Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which includes:

  • Gloves
  • Masks or Face Shields
  • Protective Clothing and Footwear
  • Protective Glasses or Goggles

You might also need to provide photos and videos of your PPE to prove that you are complying with the laws and your worksplace’s safety rules.

You will also need access to a laptop or computer and it must have a webcam. Unfortunately, you cannot do this on your phone or mobile device.

Note that your sessions will be recorded as evidence of your attendance and to confirm the completion of your training. There’s no alternative: You are required to have the webcam turned on throughout your training.

Where does training take place?

In keeping with our new COVID safe lifestyles, this course is fully online in what’s called the virtual classroom.

The virtual classroom is a lot like a real classroom except that it’s online. It takes place at regular, designated times like an ordinary class, and like a physical class, your attendance will be noted.

Also just like a physical classroom, you get the opportunity to interact with your teacher and classmates. You’ll take part in valuable discussions, ask questions and give feedback all in real time.

While the virtual classroom is a COVID-safe alternative to the physical classroom, it also helps you take part in educational opportunities from the comfort of your own home. Rest assured you’ll get all the benefits of an ordinary classroom without all the extra hassles.

How long does it take?

Fortunately, this is a short course that allows you to get on with what matters most, whether that’s completing your building and construction courses online or getting back to the job.

The course consists of regular sessions of 1.5 hours each, once a week for 4 weeks. You’ll also need an extra 3 hours each week for online self-study.

To complete your assessments, you’ll be given a total of 10 weeks to submit everything.

How much does it cost?

If you’re eligible to take part, this course is completely government funded and is free for you! It is funded by both the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments.Want to learn more about how you can be COVID safe on the worksite? Call 1300 LEGEND or get in touch today.
