Builders Academy Australia again recognised as one of Australia’s best Training Providers

27/08/2020

After being a finalist at the 2017 Victorian Training Awards and being announced as a Winner at the 2018 Victorian Training Awards, in 2020, Builders Academy Australia (BAA) has again been announced as a finalist for the category of Small Training Provider of the Year.

The awards, hosted by the Department of Education and Training, recognise the outstanding achievements of training institutions delivering Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs across the state.

The Small Training Provider of the Year Award category, against which Builders Academy is again a finalist, recognises Training Providers that deliver under 50 qualifications and demonstrates excellence and an outstanding level of quality in their training delivery.

Builders training builders

As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) who provides accredited training for the building and construction industry, Builders Academy now has over 8000 successful graduates and offers training for those looking to enter a trade and also those wishing to move into senior roles within the industry or run their own business as a licenced builder.

In addition to delivery in Victoria, BAA offers building and construction courses across a range of qualifications and delivery modes through New South Wales (through sister RTO – CWBTS), Queensland, and the ACT as well as to students across other regions via their online delivery mode.

Small Training Provider of the Year finalist

Andrew Shea, CEO of Builders Academy, is excited by the announcement of BAA as again being a finalist for the Small Training Provider of the Year category.

“Being part of the Awards is great recognition for the positive impact we continue to have on the Victorian Building and construction workforce, and to have been a finalist three of the last four years makes us even more proud” he said.

“These kinds of awards are a great recognition the hard work and dedication of the amazing team at Builders Academy, and our students also invest significant time and hard work into their studies and we recognise their passion and commitment to bettering their skills and knowledge and career opportunities.”

“I have no doubt that our continued strong leadership, together with our student focus and the passion and professionalism of our team, will ensure we continue our delivery of high quality and accessible training that meets current and future industry needs.”

“In 2020 we have been particularly proud of a number of achievements including: our ability to limit disruption to our students despite Covid-19, through offering varied delivery modes; achieving student satisfaction rates and completion rates that are above those previously achieved; doubling the number of apprentices we are supporting over the previous 12 months in qualifications such as Carpentry, and supporting important initiatives such as increasing the participation of women in construction through our partnerships with Top 100 Women and TradesWomen Australia.

Studying building and construction online

Builders Academy has been recognised as a finalist for the Victorian Training Awards due to continued great outcomes being achieved for student and employer partners. This includes BAA’s ability to swiftly scale up the delivery of the Certificate IV and Diploma of Building and Construction online via its live and interactive Virtual Classroom delivery model.

Their Virtual Classroom model provides online training opportunities for students living in regional areas of Victoria, something Mr Shea said has become even more important due to physical distancing requirements that have been in place during Covid-19.

“We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to undertake training if that’s where their passion lies and will help them towards meeting their development goals,” he said. “Therefore, we take great pride in our continued offerings of high quality interactive learning opportunities for people throughout the state that will aid in them meeting their career ambitions.”

What’s next for Builders Academy Australia?

The awards ceremony will take place in October 2020 with the winner then going on to represent Victoria at the Australian Training Awards in November.

Mr Shea said he would be honoured for BAA to represent Victoria in the national awards. “If Builders Academy were to go on to make the Australian training Awards, our team would be very proud – it would be an outstanding achievement and great recognition for our team and their continued focus on giving our students a great experience. This has included that despite Covid-19 restrictions our students have not missed one day of training due to the responsiveness of our team to support students.”
