The Certificate II in Construction Pathways (CPC20220) course will give you a chance to try out a variety of trade skills and help you find your career path in a highly employable sector.

Do you have passion in building and remodeling homes, community, recreational, industrial and office facilities? Are you keen to work in the building industry? If yes, Certificate II in Construction Pathways at Builders Academy Australia could be the stepping stone for you!

A few weeks ago, we met with Akoc Deng, who has been nominated as the 2021 Student of the Year to chat about his Certificate II of Construction Pathways at Builders Academy Australia.

Akoc Deng never had a chance to win any award in his life. Being nominated is the best award he have ever received, he states. With motivation and air of support from the people and teachers in BAA, everything made it possible.

Certificate II in Construction Pathways with Builders Academy Australia will get you on the pathway to primary trades and towards an apprenticeship. We will guide you to develop your understanding of building and be exposed to common scenarios you’ll experience on the job in this pre-apprenticeship course. To put simply, we will be your stepping stone to get into the industry of your choice.

Through the pre-apprenticeship course, you’ll gain beneficial qualifications that will help you improve your competency in your career. You’ll gain knowledge and skills that will benefit you when you are applying for jobs in the future, be it taking into new roles or advancing in the industry.

So, what is Deng’s favourite part of the course? “Well, my favourite part of the course was everything.” Be it people, teachers, using all the tools, bricklaying, carpentry, EVERYTHING. Experience is the best teacher. It is everything when it comes to getting a new job and employers often value relevant experience over having just paper qualifications alone, since having experienced workers make fewer mistakes. The skills and knowledge they’ve already acquired about the industry will probably help them avoid the cost for training new people, which is a part of getting the inexperienced new hires up to speed.

On top of this, it is not only important to get the proper trainings you need to build your professional skills, you will also want to surround yourself with people who will support you. “The people were nice, so I can’t complain.” This is how Deng describes the people in Builders Academy Australia! Having this kind of environment help students develop meaningful learning experiences and encourages higher levels of performance.

Completing pre-apprenticeship is also beneficial to employers in a way that you will spend less time in the classroom and more time for them to give you practical work that will actually contribute to the company operations.

Furthermore, the employers know that you have already experienced the industry prior to taking the apprenticeship. This will prove your ability and skill to handle yourself on site, that you can work in a professional environment, and will show your passion towards completing the apprenticeship which will lead you to becoming accredited in your trade.
